Common Questions
If you haven’t had a massage session with me before, I usually recommend booking a 45 minute slot. This allows for time to find out what you would like to achieve during your session followed by a tailored massage.
If you have booked a Sports Massage, I will do a short assessment to get a clearer picture of any current issues/injuries followed by a massage for the remainder of the session.
You don’t need to bring anything with you, just yourself and something comfortable to wear.
Shoes will be removed for all treatments.
Massage: Which clothing is removed is dependant on the area worked into. You will be covered with a towel but if you prefer to keep any items of clothing on, that is not a problem.
If you want your feet worked on, your feet will be cleaned prior to any foot treatment so don’t worry if you’ve been on them all day.
Facial Reflexology: Make up will be removed at the beginning of the session so bring supplies to re-apply if necessary.
Facials: Make up will be removed at the beginning of the session and it is recommended not to reapply makeup to get the full benefit of the facial.
Some facials include a neck décolleté massage so please wear something which can be moved down such as a vest or strap top.
Many people who come for sports massage have issues that are nothing to do with sport. Sports massage can help with postural issues such as being sat at a desk all day, aches due to gardening, inactivity, etc.
Sports massage helps maintain functional fitness whatever your age or activity level.
Sports Massage is a form of deep tissue massage which works into muscle tissue. The massage itself should not be painful but when working into injuries or tight muscles, the area can feel tender to touch. I tailor the pressure to your comfort levels, allowing for a more comfortable massage.
Sports Massage is designed to break down these tensions to reduce pain and aide with recovery.
I am not currently trained in pregnancy massage on the body but I can offer facial massage, reflexology and facials during the second and third trimester.
For those who are 40 weeks or more, reflexology can be used to help prepare the body for labour.
You will need to check it is OK with your GP prior to treatment.
I am a member of the Sports Therapy Association.
Some health insurers may allow reimbursement of a number of Sports Massage sessions through STA members. It is best to confirm with your insurer prior to booking.
